Community Standards

(Who we are. How we act. What we do. )

General Policies & Code of Conduct

Who We Are: Modern Sales Pros (MSP) is the world’s largest peer education community for sales operations, sales enablement, sales engineering, and leadership professionals. Founded in 2015 in San Francisco, the community now totals more than 35,000 sales professionals from all over the world. Each and every new member is vetted through an application process. We are committed to building a community that represents the true variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills in revenue leadership today. The more inclusive we are, the better the community is, and the more we learn.

How We Act: Modern Sales Pros members represent themselves, their company, MSP, and the broader leadership community. Each member is expected to be a professional both online and in-person. Members neither exhibit nor tolerate actions or behavior that would adversely affect the image of you, your company, the discipline of sales, or, most importantly, this community. We expect each of our community members to engage in a positive, inclusive, and encouraging way. Engagement that promotes hatred of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the group indefinitely.

What We Do: MSP members enjoy access to peer learning through thousands of forum threads via Google Groups, dozens of digital and in-person events each month, and through exclusive recruiting resources. Our forum and digital events are available globally, and our in-person events are hosted in 16+ major cities across the U.S.A. and Canada.

Online Forum Discussion Policies

Zero Tolerance for Self Promotion. Your content or solution is totally amazing - you promoting it to other members is not. There is no tolerance for self-promotion and there are no exceptions.

Add Value. When asking a question, over-index on information - you know your business well; the community does not. When responding to a question look to add value and build upon the previous responses.

Search. This community began in earnest in 2015. There is a lot of good information. Search before asking your question. If you have something to add, or a different variation, reference the threads you found in your question.

Maintain a Professional Demeanor. Your post will be seen by 35,000 other leaders in sales. That said, a professional, fun, and civil tone is paramount.

DIGITAL EVENT POLICIES

General Video Etiquette. Turn your video ON and keep yourself muted while others are talking.

Participate. Everyone who joins these events is a high quality sales leader with a magnitude of experience. Don’t just sit back - introduce yourself and participate. You will only get out of our events what you put in. That said, don’t overpower the conversation and please allow each person the chance to share..

Registration Questions. Register with your most pressing questions about the theme, and attend the event to hear the experts answer both your registration and live questions.

Don’t Self Promote. It’s only natural as a sales leader - but instead of promoting your product, promote yourself by offering your professional insights on the topic.

IN-PERSON EVENT POLICIES

All Pros -  No Egos. Speak up and have your voice heard, but also be cognizant of how much space you're occupying - take a step back when needed. Let people of different backgrounds tell their stories and share their experiences. Learn from each other and be open and honest about the challenges you’re facing and use this time to take-in new perspectives.

Participate.  Business happens. If you have to take a call, excuse yourself quietly. If you’re attending for free food or to play ping-pong and not to participate, you’ll be asked to leave. And you won’t be invited back.

Don’t Self Promote. If you’re caught you’ll be suspended from MSP and banned from attending in-person events.

Bring A Friend. Do you have awesome friends and colleagues in revenue leadership? Bring them along to an event so they too, can join in on the dialogue and meet other awesome people.

Maintain a Professional Demeanor. Especially with alcoholic beverages available at most of our events, just a reminder to always respect all individuals and keep your interactions professional and graceful.
